Obituary for Rudolph Quirini Jr.

Rudolph Joseph Quirini, Jr., 75, of Niskayuna passed away after a long illness on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Ellis Hospital.

Rudy was born in Schenectady on December 31, 1941, son of the late Rudolph J. and Sophie A. (Dziadul) Quirini. He is the husband of the former Mary Ellen McLaughlin of Troy, whom he married on September 6, 1969 at Sacred Heart Church in Troy.

Valedictorian of the Mont Pleasant High School Class of 1959, Rudy graduated from Columbia University with a bachelor’s degree and an MBA. He went on to earn his CPA, and he had his own accounting practice, Confidential Tax, based in Colonie.

Rudy was an active parishioner of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, formerly St. Helen's Church, in Niskayuna, where he served as a trustee, lector, and past president of the Parish Council, Finance Committee, and the Home School Association. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree. Rudy enjoyed his work, spending time at Saratoga Race Course and cheering for his beloved New York Yankees.

He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Mary Ellen Quirini; their children, Paul (Stephanie) Quirini of Guilderland, and Susan Quirini of Troy; his sister, Lorraine (David) Gonyea of Glenville; and several nieces and nephews.
Rudy is predeceased by a son, Stephen J. Quirini, who passed away in Florida on February 20, 2016.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1801 Union Street, Schenectady.

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations to St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, in memory of Rudolph J. Quirini, Jr.
