Obituary of Irene Ruggiero

Born September 28, 1928, Irene Ruggiero, 89, of Schenectady, passed away from cancer on October 22,2017 while visiting family in Virginia. She lived an active life; had a keen wit and sense of humor; was a devout member of St. Paul's Catholic Church; and was a strong and devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and

great-grandmother.

Retired from Bank of America, she enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, solving crossword puzzles, taking daily walks and caring for her family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Schenectady Fire Chief Ralph Ruggiero; her brother and her nephew, August Paniccia and Paul Paniccia; and sister-in-law, Madeline Cusano.

She is survived by her daughter, Christine (Jeff) Grayson; grandchildren, Samantha (Brendon) Miller and Luke (Amber) Grayson; great-grandchildren, Grayson and Maya Miller, and Parker Grayson; her nephews Mark (Mary Ellen) Cusano and Richard Paniccia; and her niece, Diane Paniccia.

A funeral Mass at St. Paul's will be held at 11:00 on Monday, November 6, followed by graveside service in Memory Gardens.
