Pauline Ruhl, age 102, of Johnstown passed away on Wednesday, May 16, with her family by her side. She was the daughter of Matilda and Paul Monaco of Schenectady, NY, and the youngest of eight children. She was married to the late Sheldon Ruhl. She was predeceased by her husband, and son, Richard Ruhl.
Mrs. Ruhl, was a graduate of the Schenectady School System and worked at General Electric Company in Schenectady and in Johnstown until her retirement as Family Court Clerk to the late Senator/Judge Dalwin Niles, the late Judge Richard Hood, and the late Issac Zaleon of the Family Court system. Pauline credits her long, healthy life to eating well and exercising to the age of 86. She was an avid reader of novels, loved gardening, sewing, crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles as well as traveling, and going out to lunch. She was a great cook and was famous for her Italian dishes and meatballs with raisins. Pauline was always good-natured, pleasant and kind to others. She loved her collection of owls and souvenir spoons! She had many adventures during her retirement: a couple of which included a three week vacation to England, and in her 80’s, riding the Desperado Plunge at The Great Escape.
She has five children: Janet Yermas of Syracuse, Ronald (Janifer) Ruhl of Indiana, Diane Palmateer of Johnstown, Elaine McCarthy (Kevin) of Delanson, and the late Richard Ruhl (Joan) of Maryland. She also leaves behind several grandchildren (Barbara, Joseph, Benjamin, Sarah, Laura, Amanda, Christopher, Timothy, David and Cheryl), and thirteen great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
